2025 Fiction Contest Judge: Rachel Heng

We are delighted to announce Rachel Heng as the judge of our 2025 fiction contest!

Rachel is the author of two novels, Suicide Club (2018) and The Great Reclamation (2023). The latter won the New American Voices Award and was a finalist for the Singapore Literature Prize and the Libby Book Award. It was also named a New York Times Editors’ Choice and a Best Book of 2023 by TIME Magazine, The New Yorker, Amazon Books, Town & Country Magazine, Kirkus Reviews, a Sarah Selects Amazon Book Club and an April 2023 Indie Next pick. Her work has been published in The New Yorker, McSweeney’s Quarterly, Best New Singaporean Short Stories, The New York Times, The Atlantic, Esquire, and elsewhere, including here at StoryQuarterly (Issue 52). She has received grants and fellowships from the National Endowment of the Arts, Fine Arts Work Center, Sewanee Writers’ Conference, Vermont Studio Center, Hedgebrook, Kenyon Review Writers Workshop and the National Arts Council of Singapore.
